DIY - (easy peasy) Snowman Ornament

Need a cute, easy, and inexpensive craft for your students?  Looking for a "non holiday" treat to make in the next couple of weeks?   How 'bout this adorable snowman?

Items to Gather:

  • craft sticks (6 per snowman)
  • wiggly eyes (used 14mm in this pic)
  • white acrylic paint
  • black acrylic paint
  • all purpose glue
  • orange felt or foam sheet
  • ribbon (optional)

Instructions:

You will need 6 craft sticks per snowman (5 for the face/hat and 1 for the brim of the hat)

Step 1: count out 5 craft sticks and glue them together side by side

Step 2:  After the 5 craft sticks are glued together and dried paint 3/4 of the sticks white  the the top 1/4 black.  Also paint the single craft stick black.
(excuse the ugly paint job but I have an injured hand and I am doing everything with one hand...that is how easy it is)

Step 3:  after the paint has dried glue the single black craft stick to make the brim of the hat.

Step 4: using a q-tip of eraser side of a pencil paint black dots to create a mouth.

Step 5:  cut out a "carrot shape nose" from the orange felt or foam.

Step 6: glue on eyes and carrot nose

Other Tips/Suggestions:
You can add ribbon just above the brim of the hat and add some to the back of the snowman so you can hang the snowman on your Christmas tree.

Another way I have used this is as a holiday magnet. I put a small picture of the student on the hat along with the current year and just placed strips of magnets on the back. The students gave these adorable snowmen to their parents as a Christmas gift.

These would also make adorable gift tags (write on the hat with a paint pen)or just as a package topper too!

  Have a 'hoppy' day!
