DIY Writing Process Clip Chart

Check out this DIY Writing Process Clip Chart! Keep up with where your kiddos are in their writing, while helping them learn the writing process!

Items to Gather:

  • construction paper (yellow and pink)
  • glue
  • clear vellum (found at craft stores)
  • laminator (optional)
  • Writing Process labels

Step 1:  Print Writing Process labels from Google Doc.

Step 2:  Glue yellow and pink construction paper together creating a pencil look (trim if desired).

Step 3:  Glue the labels onto the construction paper.

Step 4:  Add a black tip to create the lead of the pencil.

Step 5:  Laminate to increase durability.

Good luck and enjoy!

  1. This is a fantastic idea. No more having to stop and ask kids individually where they are in the process, which takes time out of each writing session.

    1. Thanks! It definitely is a time saver! It has been working great in our classroom!

  2. What is included in the "writer's checklist" mentioned in the Edit section? I would love to use this in my classroom.
